John Cusack Ate My Brain
The other night I was talking to someone about John Cusack movies, not a real deep discussion but just enough to make me think about things. I've loved his movies for such a long time because at times they reflect my life. For example...
Better of Dead (1985) - During high school I was sleep deprived and lived off of Southern Comfort, pot and Micky D's - there was one time that I swore my McBurger spoke to the fries as I watched cook up on the grill. No David Lee Roth but it was enough to be a bit spooky. I also played the saxaphone (whoo-pee)
Roadside Prophets (1992) - I was a bulimec and I skipped out on a few checks. Not at the same time but that probably would have been a pretty good idea.
Say Anything (1989) - For this line
She's gone. She gave me a pen. I gave her my heart, she gave me a pen.
Granted, my dilemma wasn't nearly this good. But I gave him my heart and he gave me divorce papers, two dogs, a house, and a reason to get tested for any sort of sexually transmitted disease (I'm clean, thank you).
The Road to Wellville (1994) - I've met people and have put my trust in them (and in one case money) and been screwed over to the breaking point.
High Fidelity (2000) OK who hasn't wanted to go back to some of their past relationships and wanted to know what the fuck went wrong? Well in my case not long term relationships but just those guys that I meet, hang out with and have a good time with (or so I thought) only to be ignored or dumped for god knows what reason. Please just tell me what I did wrong so I don't fuck up a good thing again.
Eight Men Out (1988) He played baseball very well. I play softball somewhat shitty. I know that's a stretch but work with me here.
I read too much into movies. I apply them to my life like some people do with religion. In the end it doesn't matter, life is life, just have to deal with the shit in hopes of finding something good happens in the end (Serendipity 2001).
